Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) meter readers manually read over 52,250 meters on a monthly basis. They carry an FPUA photo ID card, wear shirts or vests bearing the FPUA logo and drive vehicles marked with our logo. If you have any doubts about someone claiming to be an FPUA meter reader, please call us at 772-466-1600 for verification.
The safety of FPUA employees is a priority, and we need your help to keep them safe while they complete their meter routes. Many of our meters are located on the back or side of the house, which requires our readers to enter your yard to obtain the reading. Locked gates, dogs, landscaping, tools/equipment, and other items may pose hazards to our employees. We greatly appreciate your help in keeping the area in and around your meter clear of hazards in order to prevent injuries to our employees.
If you have an unsafe condition in your backyard, our meter readers may knock on the front door to ask for help, especially if a dog appears threatening or if the gate is locked. If a utility customer is not home and hazards exist, a door hanger may be left asking them to contact FPUA.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding FPUA meter reading procedures please call us at 772-466-1600.
