Fiber Optics and Communication Services
FPUA has been providing communication services to its utility customers and the community as a whole since 2000. The original name, “ispEZ – Internet the easy way!” was used for dialup Internet access and other traditional services. These original services began to be phased out in 2006. Today, state-of-the-art fiber optic communication services are provided under the name, “FPUAnet Communications.”
These services are provided to local businesses, and include Dedicated Fiber Internet Access and Optical Fiber Links, such as Dark Fiber and Bandwidth Connections.
Providing such services helps FPUA in fulfilling its mission to “Provide our customers with economical, reliable, and friendly service in a continuous effort to enhance the quality of life in our community.”
FPUAnet Communication Services is a joint venture between two departments, Electric Engineering and Information Technology Services. As a communication services provider, FPUA gives added incentive for incumbent providers to improve their service quality and keep prices reasonable.
FPUA has continued to expand its optical fiber network to over 50 miles of cable. This fiber network is used for FPUA’s internal communication needs, as well as for FPUAnet customers.
