Water

FPUA provides clean drinking water to approximately 17,500 customers producing about 257 million gallons per month or an average of 9 million gallons per day.

Our water is derived from the Surficial Aquifer about 100 feet below the surface and the Floridan Aquifer, about 1,000 feet below the surface.  We have both lime softening and reverse osmosis plants, which treat the well water.  FPUA’s water is excellent drinking quality, which meets stringent federal and state water quality standards.

BOIL WATER NOTICE REQUIREMENT              

When a precautionary boil water notice is issued, FPUA recommends that you follow the following guideless from the Environmental Protection Agency which are below. 

Use bottled water that has not been exposed to flood waters if it is available.
If you don't have bottled water, you should boil water to make it safe. Boil the water for one minute, let it cool, and store it in clean containers with covers.
If you can't boil water, you can disinfect it using household bleach. Add 1/8 teaspoon (or 8 drops) of regular, unscented, liquid household bleach for each gallon of water, stir it well and let it stand for 30 minutes before you use it. Store disinfected water in clean containers with covers.
The above should be done for 72 hours.
